Today’s announcement of Austalia’s success in banning
Japanese whaling has meant a whole new change in our trip. No more deep
bowing(only a cursory nod at best), no more “arigato gozemas” but only mumbled
curses; only the lowest quality food is served to us in a sullen manner. We are
trying to assure the locals we are not Australian at all but Icelanders, but to
little avail.
We wander around the Takashima department store, especially
the food section, ogling at the local and imported products and the
mega-expensive fruit. Then lunch at a fine tempura joint.
In the afternoon we visit the Kite Museum.
In the evening it is off to the Zoetrope Whisky Bar with a
selection of over 300 Japanese whiskies.
