Japan Day 1-for goodness Sake

Following an uneventful drugged up flight our intrepid travelers arrive at Narita Airport  and Frank's initial foray into Japanese cuisine is triangular rice cakes with mystery filling-OK.By bus to hotel after paying twice for tickets due to mysterious disappearance of originals.
Arrive at plush Hotel New Otani and opt for early checkin( note to self: Put off retirement for 2 more years).
Wander into town  and have a great bowl of ramen and then to Tokyo Station to buy train tickets for rest of trip. Always enjoy waiting in queue for half an hour and then discovering we are in the wrong area.
Out for dinner at The Inakaya restaurant , a combination of grilled food, theatre, shuffle board and copious amounts of sake drunk out of square wooden receptacles.
Get completely lost on way back to hotel and make many new friends who are fascinated to know our names and that my hobby is music but cannot tell us where the hotel is. Eventually find taxi.

  1. Thanks Frank and Robyn for making me aware of the blog. I'll be sure to drop in over your travels to see how everything is progressing. Very entertaining reading thus far - I'm glad you made it safely out of the Tsukuji Fish Markets!
